Crockpot recipes are inevitably my favorite. They’re easy to make, and the house smells delicious all day until dinner. This is yet another recipe discovered on Pinterest that has become apart of my mental cookbook. This recipe makes the sweetest, most tender pulled chicken you can find, and it’s super easy to throw together!
Prep time: 10 minutes
Cook time: 5-6 hours
Ingredients:
- 2lbs boneless and skinless chicken breasts, fat removed
- 1 1/4 cup bbq sauce (I use Sweet Baby Ray’s Honey)
- 1/2 cup Italian dressing (I use fat-free)
- 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1/4 cup brown sugar (you can opt for 1/8 cup if you want it less sweet)
- 1 tbsp garlic and onion powder
- 1/2 tbsp smoked paprika
- salt and pepper to taste
Begin by spraying your crockpot with non-stick spray. Season the chicken breasts with the garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt and pepper. Place these in your crockpot.
Next, mix together barbecue sauce, Italian dressing, brown sugar, and Worcestershire sauce in a medium bowl. Whisk thoroughly. Pour this mixture on top of the chicken breasts in the crockpot.
You can cook on low for 5-6 hours (the method I prefer) or you can cook on high for 2.5-3 hours. As long as the chicken has reached an internal temperature of 165 degrees, you are good to go!
I recommend shredding the chicken in the crockpot just a few minutes before serving. This allows each piece to soak up the savory sauce.
